Safety & Policies

What to expect before and during your University Anglers session.

SAFETY FIRST

Safety is a priority for every University Anglers experience. All sessions are conducted with respect for local regulations, weather conditions, and the safety of everyone involved.
Anglers and clients are expected to communicate openly and make safety-focused decisions throughout the session.

Guided Fishing Trips

Guided trips take place in the guide’s boat
The guide is responsible for operating the boat.
Availability varies by lake, credentials, and conditions.

BOAT OPERATION & RESPONSIBILITY

In-Person Instruction

The client is responsible for operating their own boat.
The angler’s role is instructional and advisory.
Clients are expected to ensure their boat is safe, operational, and compliant with local regulations

EQUIPMENT READINESS

For in-person instruction, clients are responsible for ensuring their equipment is ready for use.

This includes:

A functioning trolling motor
Charged batteries
Working electronics (fish finders, transducers, LiveScope, etc.)
Required safety equipment
Instruction is most effective when time is spent learning on the water rather than troubleshooting equipment.
If you are unsure whether your setup is ready, please contact us before your session.

WEATHER & CONDITIONS

Weather and water conditions can affect scheduling and safety.
Light rain or less-than-ideal fishing conditions do not automatically require cancellation.
If conditions are unsafe or unsuitable for instruction, sessions may be rescheduled.
Weather-related decisions are made collaboratively between the client, angler, and University Anglers when necessary.

EXPECTATIONS & CONDUCT

To ensure a productive experience:

Clients and anglers should arrive on time and prepared.
Open communication about goals, experience level, and limitations is encouraged.
Respectful conduct is expected at all times.
Fishing results are never guaranteed, and learning outcomes depend on conditions, engagement, and experience level.
Additional terms, acknowledgments, and releases are required prior to participation in any University Anglers session. Participation in University Anglers services is subject to completion of all required documentation prior to the session.
